Central Coast Community Energy Launches Fleet Electrification Programs for Member Agencies

Rebates Available for Purchasing Electric Vehicles, Installing Charging Stations
MONTEREY, Calif., Dec. 20, 2022 – Central Coast Community Energy (CCCE) today announced the launch of two new energy programs, Electrify Your Fleet and Charge Your Fleet. The programs are designed for CCCE’s 33 Member Agencies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by deploying electric vehicles and installing charging stations. Member Agencies are the cities and counties that have joined the Central Coast Community Energy Joint Powers Authority and have been approved by the Policy Board of Directors.
The Electrify Your Fleet and Charge Your Fleet Programs individually provide Member Agencies up to $150,000 in rebates. These rebates may be claimed as a post-purchase rebate or a pre-purchase reservation. Rebates will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Electrify Your Fleet Program provides incentives for the purchase/lease of light duty, medium duty, and heavy-duty battery electric vehicles (EV), which must be new and fully electric.
The Charge Your Fleet program provides rebates for the purchase and construction/installation of EV service equipment including the time, materials, and work required for installation. Projects must include an EV charger of Level 2 or Level 3 DCFC power and may include all costs associated with installation. Charging stations may be either public facing or “behind the fence” at a secure customer site.
Earlier this year, CCCE partnered with the County of Santa Barbara to further transportation electrification in the area, granting $242,000 for the installation of 22 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and the purchase of light-duty electric vehicles. The charging stations provide additional electricity sources for the 7,000 EV drivers in the County and improve feasibility for many would-be EV drivers, helping reduce emissions and better air quality.
“These dollars are well spent and significantly help us to reduce both greenhouse gasses and other vehicle exhaust emissions while at the same time increasing our overall operating efficiency and driver comfort,” said Skip Grey, Assistant Director of the General Services Department of the County of Santa Barbara. “Truly, this has been a win-win engagement.”
CCCE’s Member Agency Services formed in December 2021 to support electrification among Member Agencies, including planning and implementation. In the past year, CCCE has reserved or distributed $2.4 million in funding to Member Agencies, with $1.9 million dedicated to accelerating electrification of the Central Coast’s transportation sector by transitioning from fossil fuels to clean and renewable solutions.
